how can you help?

Stepping Into Grace needs your help to get prosthetic limbs, other devices and parts to the people who need them. In most of these cases, a donation enables a patient to go back to work, care for their children and lead a normal life again.

OUR STORY

The Stepping into Grace story begins on December 16, 2016. Lise Brink, her husband and five children were in a car accident that killed two of her children. Lise lost her left leg above the knee, was in ICU for 40 days and had multiple other operations.

The family has since moved to the US and they now live in Athens, Georgia. In 2021 Lise applied for and received a grant for a running blade with Amputee Blade Runners (ABR) in Nashville, Tennessee. Through the amputee and prosthetist community in the US, Lise came into contact with various non-profits that donate prosthetic limbs to patients around the world.

This was the opportunity Lise has been praying for since she herself was the recipient of significant of goodwill and in-kind donations by many people in South Africa. She received a knee through a campaign called “Run for Lise” in South Africa and also the blade from ABR.

You can learn more about Lise's journey at this Facebook page or in this article.

THE VISION

Stepping Into Grace was born of Lise's desire to give back to the people of South Africa that were so kind and supportive during her time of need.

In only the first six months of its existence, SIG donated 16 prosthetic limbs to needy patients all across South Africa. SIG has an exciting new US based partner who offers a wide range of prosthetic devices and parts. SIG is also expanding its footprint in South Africa with more and more prosthetists trusting us to deliver the right product in a timely manner to deserving patients.
